Solar energy is the future and solar lighting will become part of every home in the western world. Every home that gets enough sunshine throughout the year that is. The reason is simple when oil runs out and when all other forms of natural energy sources are depleted we will have the sun to rely on. Using the oceans as a means of energy will also be viable but in states such as the Midwest the oceans are a bit too far. Many people don't even know what solar energy is. Solar energy is the light from the sun and the is processed for use in homes, factories, commercial areas and other places. Solar energy is also considered renewable energy also. This type of energy essentially converts the sun rays into usable power.

Some uses for solar energy include solar lights which are used to light the home's interior and exterior. Energy from the sun is gathered during the day and then it is used as power during the night. Other uses include heating water and this is known as solar thermal. Solar hot water systems are very popular and can help save people a lot of money. Heating water is convenient because the water is stored in insulated tanks. That way when you need hot water at anytime during the day or night you simple use the stored hot water.

The biggest obstacle so far that prevents more people from buy solar lights and other devices that use solar energy is the price. The second obstacle is that the rechargeable batteries are limited in capacity. Many batteries can only store but so much power. usually not more than 24 hours worth. This poses a huge dilemma for people who need lighting but are unable to recharge their batteries because the sun wasn't out all week. This is where technology needs to be improved and it's a shame that larger units are able to store more energy but home solar lights are limited. This can be due to the size of the solar panels and the actual size of the battery that is inside the solar lights.

Hopefully researchers will improve this kind of technology because solar energy is more than vital to the survival of mother earth.
